  • Overview

    Working within a cross-functional SCRUM team, the main responsibility of a Software Developer is the translation of customer requirements into software designs and working functionality. Development activities will initially be centred around Syncsort’s Capacity Management application, Athene®, where a range of technologies (predominantly C# and SQL Server) will be employed.  The application is a combination of client-server and browser based functionality, with an increasing emphasis on browser and mobile platforms.

     

    The successful applicant will be exposed to and play an active role in the full SDLC, from requirements definition through design, development and testing through to regression and support.

    The majority of time will be spent at Syncsort’s Taunton office but there may be occasional travel both within the UK and international.

    Responsibilities

    • Translation of Business requirements into Enterprise quality software
    • Technical documentation
    • Ongoing support and maintenance of all Athene® applications
    • Creation of Unit Tests
    • Full participation in standard SCRUM Ceremonies (Stand-ups, Planning, Reviews, etc.)

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience
    • Knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle
    • Demonstrable programming experience (commercial/academic)
    • C#
    • Knowledge of RDBMS
    • Object Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD)
    • Javascript based web development experience (commercial/academic)
    • Familiarity/experience with Agile Development Methodologies, ideally Scrum
